Ok you have diabetes, now you have so many different things to do. Well first of all, have to take insulin injections but also you have to eat at certain times of the day.
Why is this?To make this a bit easier you can think of your meal as a timed release capsule. Certain foods are digested at different times. Carbohydrates, proteins and fats are converted into smaller units so that they may enter the blood strean. The balanced combination of these nutrients help regulate how quickly sugar enters the blood after eating. You also need to balance your diet so your body gets the proper amounts of nutrient per day.
Most of the carbohydrates for someone with diabetes should be of the kind that are digested more slowly.
Protein and fat tend to slow down digestion so that sugar enters the blood less rapidly.
